WORLD PREMIERE
Following enigmatic frontman Jeremy Oxley from the Sunnyboys' innocent origins, breakthrough success and his subsequent 30-year battle with schizophrenia, The Sunnyboy unravels Oxley's troubled journey into a definitive narrative of one man's inspired story of hope, survival and his healing redemption from the past. A revelatory meditation on a condition often stigmatised and misunderstood, the documentary buries below the surface of Oxley’s public “idenity” to explore his own account of his reality and his battle to maintain “self”.
Secure in a loving relationship with his partner Mary, Jeremy slowly emerges from his solitary torment to join the world we all share . The documentary follows Jeremy as he tentatively unpicks his confused thoughts and feelings about the past whilst revisiting relationships damaged by his illness – most significantly with his brother and fellow band member Peter. From struggling with the physical effects of years of self medication, looking hopefully towards a married future to contemplating a daring return to the stage. The Sunnyboy is the definitive documentary of Jeremy Oxley's enlightening journey from the Sunnyboys and back.
